September 13, 2001
Gov. Gary Locke will lead a statewide day of prayer and remembrance Friday, September 14 at Westlake Center in downtown Seattle to honor all victims of Tuesday's horrifying terrorist attacks. The governor will be joined at the memorial service by King County Executive Ron Sims, Seattle Mayor Paul Schell and religious leaders.
The governor invites all communities statewide to hold their own gatherings and unite the state of Washington in tribute to America by simultaneously activating sirens at 12:29 p.m. for one-minute in honor of fallen emergency response personnel, followed at 12:30 p.m. by one-minute of silence and concluding at 12:31 p.m. with the ringing of bells.
